Remembering Interior Designer Alberto Pinto... Christie's fetes the late decorator, who was responsible for some of the world's most stunning interiors, and a new book about his final projects.

Christie's New York hosted a party to celebrate the release of Alberto Pinto: Signature Interiors, a compendium of the gorgeous never-before-seen final projects of the late interior designer. His sister Linda, who now leads the Paris firm, was on hand to sign books and mingle with fans and guests. Afterward, a select few, including James de Givenchy, Nina Griscom, Chella Safra, and Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia were invited to the residence of Charles and Nathalie de Gunzburg for dinner.

Maïmouna Guerresi: the Art of Explaining Mysteries

Grace, peace and a tacit understanding of the mysteries of the world seem to permeate the elegant photographic work of Italian-Senegalese visual artist Maïmouna Guerresi. Born Patrizia Guerresi, she converted to Sufi Islam at the age of 40; being the most mystical side of Islam, Sufism has proven to be a source of personal growth and artistic inspiration for Guerresi, since she admits that “it’s impossible for her to separate her most intimate thoughts from her artistic expression.” A strong believer in humanity’s common essence and destiny, Guerresi uses symbolism in order to reach the metaphysical, with religious Islamic symbols playing a big part in her iconography. In spite of her busy schedule, the artist generously accepted to give an interview to Yatzer and reveal the secret meanings behind her photographs, her connection to mysticism and her opinion on the heated debate in Europe about the hijab. https://www.yatzer.com/maimouna-guerresi

Maurizio Cattelan returns to the art world with a major exhibit at the Monnaie de Paris..

maurizio cattelan returns to the art world after a five year hiatus by staging a major exhibition — his largest in europe to date — at monnaie de paris. on view from now through january 8, 2017, ‘not afraid of love’, curated by chiara parisi, puts a selection of cattelan’s most famed work in dialogue with each other, forming a new perspective on the artist’s manifold oeuvre.

‘this exhibition is truly the first one, after the guggenheim exhibition, that brings together more than three works by me at the same time,’ cattelan says about ‘not afraid of love’. ‘it’s a special edition of the things I did before retiring. let’s say that it’s a post requiem exhibition like a poe story, I seem to be dead but I can still see and listen to everything around me.’
